Abbot Art Gallery
The Abbot School Art curriculum is a standards based program that offers students a challenging yet differentiated studio experience. Art lessons are designed to give students an understanding of what the Principles and Elements of Design are, how they are used in the work of famous artists and how students may use them in their own work. Rubrics are posted so that students can participate in the assessment process. Frequently, Art lessons are designed to collaborate with units covered in the classroom. This not only enhances the learning in both subjects but also gives the students a better understanding of the role of art and the artist in society.
Students create a portfolio at the start of the school year where they store their work and can revisit projects throughout the school year. These portfolios will be sent home at the end of the school year.
