Dear Parents & Guardians,
Over the last several months we have experienced a series of violent clashes between Americans who have strong and opposing political and ideological beliefs. As we have all learned in school, the freedom of speech and peaceable assembly are guaranteed under the 1st amendment of our constitution. The constitution doesn't’ guarantee Americans the right to use violence against any individual or groups.
During our Opening Day assembly with the entire school staff, I asked that we all continue to commit ourselves to helping students realize that disagreements over political or ideological views will occasionally occur, but we must always seek to conduct ourselves with respect and courtesy and not resort to violence.
As we head back into the classroom, it is important that we work to meet the challenges that our country is facing by supporting each other and our community and encourage understanding differences through peaceful and respectful dialogue.
