  • Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s):
  • Please review the attached information about the S.T.R.E.A.M.S. (Strategic Teaching in Reading, Enrichment And Mathematical Studies) 2010 Summer Program.  The brochure highlights some of the many splendid features of this program.  Problem-of-the-Week, Early Arrival Option, and Students-of-the-Week (three students each week receive a $10 gift card to Kimball Farms) are a few of the highlights for students.  Parents are responsible for transportation to and from STREAMS (unless your child is taking the bus to Kids Club).
  • This is the seventh summer we have provided this program.  It is the fourth year there are also students participating for enrichment (non Title One students) purposes.  Classes will be a blend of children having received Title One support as well as students registered for enrichment purposes.  This heterogeneous method is consistent with the class assignment approach the Westford Public Schools use during the school year.  Participation in classes with students of mixed abilities provides an opportunity for children to interact with peers that have other interests and varied achievement levels.  Students from the six schools will be mixed into grade level or multi-age classes.  Class assignment decisions will be influenced by the number of program registrants at each grade level.  Class sizes will not exceed 12 children per room.  Teachers will be recruited and identified after student registration is complete.
  • The S.T.R.E.A.M.S. brochure is being distributed (for children to carry home) to all students that attend the Abbot, Crisafulli, Day, Nabnasset, Miller, and Robinson Schools.  Please consider this fabulous opportunity for your child to maintain, and build upon, their literacy and numeracy skills by.  Additional benefits include socializing with other children, as well as participation in structured and less structured wellness activities facilitated for 30 minutes each day.
  • To enroll complete the registration form on the reverse side and send a $100 check (non-refundable) by 3/12/10.  The balance of $225 is due no later than 4/26/10.
  • Complete the following registration information on the reverse side and return to the address indicated.  Be sure to contact me at the Day School by phone: 978-692-5591 x11 or e-mail: kregan@westfordk12.us for any additional information about the STREAMS Program.
