Robinson School Project Update

The Robinson School Building Committee is officially in a new phase for its district-wide facilities study -- Preferred Schematic Report. This means the options are becoming tangible, and we will spend the next few months further investigating the details of each scenario. The previous phase resulted in an initial 18 options being identified, which were then narrowed to 7. These 7 options represent two paths forward: Either keep Robinson open (renovated or new and continue with six K-2/3-5 split elementary schools); or close Robinson and go all K-5 with fewer, consolidated schools (either a larger Abbot or a new building near Stony Middle). Each of the 7 options is explained on the project website: www.robinsonschoolproject.com. We are looking for community input! Please mark your calendars and join us for our forums this fall -- Sept 9, Oct 14, Nov 17 -- at 6:30PM, all on Zoom and at the Stony Brook auditorium.

Community Wellness Offering Free Youth Yoga and Meditation - 8/25:

Free Youth Yoga and Meditation - August 25th, 11:00 AM, at the First Parish Church. See this flyer for more information. 

Friends of the J.V. Fletcher Library Used Book Sale - 9/18, 19, and 20:

The Friends of the J.V. Fletcher Library will hold a Used Book Sale on September 18, 19, and 20. Since the library is under construction, this event will take place at First Parish Church United, 48 Main Street.

Friday, September 18, is a Friends Members Only preview sale, from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. Memberships and renewals are available online now. No scanners on Friday, please. Saturday, September 19, is the Public Sale, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Most items are $1 or $2. Sunday, September 20, is a bag sale from 1 to 4 p.m. Attendees must purchase a reusable bag for $10 to enter and can then fill it with items. (Scanners are welcome on Saturday and Sunday.)

The sale will include thousands of gently used books plus CDs, audio books, Blu-ray Discs, DVDs, puzzles, and games. We accept credit card payments in addition to checks and cash. This event is a fundraiser. 100% of the proceeds go directly to the Friends of the J.V. Fletcher Library.

Westford Health Department Flu Clinics - 9/17, 10/15 and 10/22:

Mark your calendars for this year’s upcoming FLU clinics through the Westford Health Department. We will be using the COLOR software again, and the link for the pre-registration will be on the Health Department website. Walk-ins are always welcome, but pre-registration is a much quicker process. Bring your insurance card(s) with you at your appointment. Westford Academy Equestrian Team - Join Us!

The Westford Academy Equestrian Team is actively recruiting riders of all abilities to join the team for the 26-27 show season! Whether you are just starting out riding or are jumping 3’, we would love to have you. No horse needed! The only requirements to be on the team are:

  • Entering 9-12th grade at Westford Academy
  • Enrolled in a weekly riding lesson. The WA team does not offer riding lessons but we can help you find a lesson program in the area
  • Attending a bi-weekly after-school club meetings to go over horse show information
