Each student at Westford Academy is assigned a Chromebook associated with their Westford Public Schools (westfordk12.us) account. We encourage students to practice digital safety by using their own Chromebook and not sharing with others.

Personal Google accounts (gmail.com, hotmail.com, etc) will not open on a Chromebook as they are outside the Westford Public School’s domain.

As an additional practice of online safety, we encourage each high school student to change their Google password at the time of orientation.

Chrome Password Change

  1. Go to https://myaccount.google.com/security

  2. Click on password

  3. Change your password.

Colorful Google app icons are at the top, with the Blocksi logo, a Padlet origami crane, and a smiling pear with a chalkboard in the foreground.

WEB MONITORING & CONTENT FILTERS

Westford Public Schools utilize an Internet management system (currently Blocksi) dedicated to providing content filtering and web safeguards.

The tool features a dashboard to help filter students that are in school, as well as those signing in remotely, tracks their device and  detects signs of cyberbullying and/or any type of  harm within their WPS Google Domain. Additionally, Blocksi uses AI scanning to  activate alerts that are sent directly to the school administration.

When student searches are deemed inappropriate or having concern for students physical and mental health, a notification is printed out and discussed by the students school counselor, Dean of Students and also may involve parental / caregiver communication based on the content of the inquiry.
