Health Management Association (HMA) Letter to Parents

Parent/Student Participation Request
Dear Parents/Guardians of Grades K-12 Students,

As you may know, the Town of Westford hired Health Management Associates (HMA) to conduct a thorough needs assessment process in support of the town’s goals to enhance the safety and behavioral health/wellness of students and the community.

HMA is asking for your involvement, along with our students in grades 6-12, to provide them with the most accurate information regarding our programs/processes that support students' mental health. They have asked us to distribute a letter to you, which is attached.

In short, they are looking for:
1) all parents/guardians of students in grades K-12 to complete a brief 1-2 minute (anonymous) survey,
2) parent/guardian volunteers for a one-hour face-to-face focus group session with HMA (approximately 20 volunteers),
3) grades 6-12 student participation in a brief, anonymous survey (if you wish to have your child opt-out, directions to do so is in the attached letter), and
4) grades 6-12 student volunteers for a one-hour face-to-face focus group session with HMA (participation is completely voluntary and permission forms will be sent home for students who are selected to participate).

Information regarding each of these options can be found in the attached letter.

Thank you in advance for your assistance. We look forward to reviewing, sharing, and discussing HMA's findings when the study is complete (December/January timeframe).

Regards,
Everett V. Olsen, Jr.
Superintendent of Schools
