Work Permit 14-17

Child labor laws limit the number of working hours of those under the age of 18 can work and the kinds of jobs that they can do. State law also requires employers to have Youth Employment Permits (work permits) on file for all workers under 18. In Massachusetts, children under 14 may not work, except in very limited cases.
Westford parents and students: The district-preferred method of applying for a work permit is online using the instructions below.
- Collect and scan all required backup documents.
- Complete this online APPLICATION and upload the scanned backup documents as required.
- Enter "Submit" for review.
- Upon meeting all requirements, a PERMIT will be issued and sent back to the applicant via the provided email address.
Once again, the required method of applying is online. In the event that you are unable to do so, and you must apply in person, you may print a hard copy APPLICATION. Please submit with all required paperwork in person to Westford Academy's main office during the school year and the Office of the Superintendent of Schools during the summer months when school is not in session.
