Commencing an Update

First and foremost, our sincerest congratulations and well wishes to all of our Stony Brook families who have seniors graduating this evening from WA or this weekend from any of our other area high schools! It is a wonderful milestone and I hope the celebrations are full of joy and promise for the future. Commencement is indeed a beginning and we are all eager to hear about the future success of the class of 2018.

New beginnings for us include launching our new website on Monday, June 4th. Yippee! The entire district engaged in an initiative to create new websites that improve the visual appeal, are mobile-friendly, and establish more consistency throughout the various schools' sites. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or want to provide feedback. We hope you like the new look!

In just a few weeks, we will be celebrating our 8th graders as they leave us to commence their next adventure. Between our awards assembly, field day and the 8th grade dance the last few days of school will be full of events. On Wednesday, June 20th we will have an awards assembly for the 8th grade in our auditorium. If your child is receiving one of the specific content area awards, you will receive an invitation with the time of the ceremony in the event that any immediate family members would like to attend. As our student population is very large, we must limit the number of guests in our building so only those parents notified in advance that their child is receiving an individual award will be allowed to attend. Thursday, June 21st our 8th graders will participate in their Field Day which has become a great tradition for their last full day together. On the evening of June 21st, the WMSPTO sponsors a wonderful celebration dance here at Stony Brook for the 8th graders from both middle schools. PLEASE WATCH for an upcoming notice indicating how you can access the permission slip form for the dance!

There are plenty of additional activities for everyone else to look forward to, as well.  Monday, June 4th, the Stony Brook Orchestra will have their final concert of the year. Monday, June 18th, the 6th grade will venture over to Kimball Farm for a year-end celebration. On Thursday June 21st, the 7th grade will spend the day at Canobie Lake Park.

Have a safe and relaxing weekend,

Chris
