Great Pumpkin, Batman...update! SB 11-2-18

So, instead of lions and tigers and bears...oh my!  It was more like Batman and Chewie and the Great Pumpkin? Ironically, I wasn’t even the person dressed as the wookie.  Go figure. Dorothy did make an appearance as did Toto...not to mention a large detour cone, a manifestation of Stranger Things, a hockey player, lots of M & Ms, and a consummate professional.  All of that was only in the office area. Halloween and middle school is always an interesting combination. As is typical, Thursday was more subdued as many of the students were exhibiting low energy from the excess of either laughter, exercise or candy from the previous evening.

While you are enjoying all of the pictures from Wednesday night, don’t forget to look for baby pictures if you have an 8th grader this year so that we can get those included in our yearbook.  If you have not done so already, please send a copy to Mrs. Schnare ( mschnare@westfordk12.us) before December 21.  Additionally, as you might have anticipated, there is a discount if you order during the month of November.

2018-2019 Yearbook Purchase Link 5% off for November

As a reminder, the Sign-up genius links for conferences will be posted Monday morning at 9:00 am on our website under the Principal Communication tab.

At this point in the year, for 8th graders interested in going on the Washington DC trip, Step 1 should be complete. All gold forms should have been turned in to the office last week. Step 2 is to register with Capital Tours either by mailing in the form or registering online through their website.  The deadline to register with Capital Tours is  November 15th.

I was able to enjoy a great conversation with some of our 7th graders this week on why this upcoming weekend is absolutely my most favorite of the year.  They were debating the practice of daylight savings in terms of both its history and the impact that it has on various professions. Being relativley passionate about the subject, I could not refrain from getting involved.  Since my childhood, I have always loved getting the extra hour of sleep and still treasure it to this day. Yes, we discussed the balance of losing the hour in the spring and informed them that I love the gift in the fall so much that I am willing to accept the spring loss, as well.  However, I warned them that I get irritable as the loss approaches so they might consider that if they need to ask permission for anything in the spring. Some of them marked it on their calendar.  Thankfully, they were able to identify that my argument was based solely on my personal opinion and did not connect to any fact other than my happiness which is indeed subjective at best.

I wish you all an extra restful weekend!
