May Flies...update! SB 5-15-2020

Bugs are not an aspect of nature that I have ever really enjoyed.  In contrast, our dog’s favorite activity has become sitting on my lap outside in our backyard trying to eat Mayflies.  I thought it was cute at first but it has now become an obsession. She waits by the deck chair for me to sit so she can jump into my lap and begin feasting on what she assumes is a Mayfly Buffet.  Our previous ritual was centered on her constant expectation of playing fetch with her ball every time I stepped outside with her.  I guess, I am glad that someone appreciates the Mayflies.

With Memorial Day less than one week away, May is flying by indeed.  While I am usually reminding folks to soak in the experience and not rush away the time, I must admit I am looking forward to all of this being in our past.

If last Friday flew too quickly, it is still possible to enjoy the amazing Virtual Westford in Tune Talent Show video that some of our Gr8 students organized with Ms. Watson’s guidance.  I was moved to see that over 100 households were all tuning in at the same time to watch it “live” with each other and have been thrilled to see the view count grow as the weekend progressed.

Speaking of numbers growing, although we added a significant number of extra slots to accommodate any individuals who did not initially respond to the Student Locker Access survey, we found that we still needed to add even more after the sign-up genius quickly filled up.  Approximately, 293 people responded saying that they had items in lockers that they would need to collect.  Our initial Sign-Up Genius had 360 slots, we have added a considerable amount more, as well.  If your child still does not have a slot and needs to access a locker next week, please email cmucci@westfordk12.us before Tuesday.  Students will be able to enter the building at their scheduled time and gather any personal items in their locker.  The expectations were sent out along with the Sign-Up Genius this past Monday and can still be accessed on our website under the Principal Communication tab.  The weather does not look good for next week, but it is important that everyone parks in the front parking lot and does not wait in the main driveway near the front doors.  With students coming in and out of the building regularly over the course of 5 hours, we want to keep traffic away from the crosswalk.

For those of you needing to collect medication from the nurse’s office, Ms. Hanly will be coordinating an opportunity to do that after Memorial Day Weekend.  We will communicate that information when we know for sure when we can organize those pick-ups.

My little Lucy is patiently sitting at my feet waiting for me to take her outside to play with the Mayflies.

Enjoy!
