Snow Day meet my friend, June...Update 6/15/18

Today, we ventured into our first of six make-up days to balance out the tremendous number of snow days we had earlier this year.  The Distance Learning assignments have allowed us to recover three of the original nine missed days due to inclement weather which has saved us needing to go into the last week of June.  Monday's temperature looks to be a hot one indeed and the swap of one extreme weather event for another reminds me that mother nature has a wonderful sense of humor.  Superintendent Olsen sent out a message earlier today encouraging everyone to dress appropriately and stay hydrated as the forecast for Monday is not comfortable to say the least.

Our last five days of the year are full of activity.  Monday, our entire 6th grade will head over to Kimball Farm.  Tuesday is filled with presentations and other culminating activities in many classes throughout the building.  Wednesday, we will celebrate our 8th Graders with an Awards Assembly and they will receive their Yearbooks.  Thursday, our 7th grade will leave promptly at the beginning of the day to travel north to Canobie Lake Park...not that any day is good to be late, but fair warning: the busses will not be waiting for stragglers.  Also, on Thursday, our 8th graders will hold their annual Field Day celebration; they will most likely be straggling by the end of the day.  If not by then, after attending the WMSPTO Sponsored 8th Grade Celebration Thursday night here at Stony Brook, they will most likely be tired. Friday, we will celebrate the end of an excellent school year with an early release at 11:00 providing everyone with a few extra hours of well earned vacation!

Have a wonderful weekend,

Chris

Westford Challenge Success Newsletter & Parent Meeting Tuesday 6/19

Summer is almost here, but before we head out to the beaches, send our children off to camp, and forget about school altogether, the Westford Challenge Success Parent Group wants to take one last opportunity to engage with you about the hopes and concerns we have about helping our kids be well-balanced students. Here is a link to the June parent newsletter, chock full of tips and resources for you to consider this summer.  We'd also like to invite you to a parent get-together being held on Tuesday, June 19th, at 7:30pm. Check the newsletter for details, then head over to the signup page to reserve your spot. This casual event will be a good chance to meet some other parents doing their best to raise and support happy, healthy kids.
