We are conducting a $300 Scratch Ticket Raffle(s) for the Westford Academy Athletic Hall of Fame (WAAHoF). You have the opportunity to win $300 worth of scratch tickets for $10 per chance or three tickets for $25 or seven tickets for $50. The winning raffle ticket(s) will be drawn on 2/9/24. If more than 100 tickets are sold, a second raffle winner will be drawn; can only win one raffle if more than one conducted. Each winner wins $300 in scratch tickets. The denominations of the scratch tickets are:

Starting 12/3/22 (9AM-3PM) Westford Academy Holiday Bazaar raffle tickets can be purchased in person at the WAAHoF display table (located at Table #19- adjacent to the WA gymnasium). They can also be purchased any time via Venmo. We encourage you to forward this flyer to people you think would purchase raffle ticket(s). Proceeds from the raffle will defray WAAHoF expenses.

2003 WESTFORD ACADEMY BASEBALL TEAM
TREY CASSIDY- Westford Academy Class of 1986- Cross Country and Track & Field
Four-year varsity Cross Country and Track & Field teams member captained both squads his junior and senior seasons. As senior Cross-Country team member established school record, and four course records at various Wachusett League running venues. In Track & Field achieved school records in one mile (4:26) and two-mile (9:21); two-mile time remains Westford Academy record! Top career performances included 21st place finish at the All-State Cross Country championship in 1985. In 1986 placed fourth at all-state Track & Field Championship two-mile race. Perhaps his greatest athletic accomplishment was placing third at the New England Track & Field Championship meet in two-mile race.
JENNIFER MARRKAND- Westford Academy Class of 2014- Swimming
Massachusetts four events swimming champion as W.A. senior. Dual County League record holder in medley relay, 200IM, 100 butter fly, 100 back-stroke. Four-time Lowell Sun Swimmer of the Year, four season Boston Globe and Boston Herald All-Scholastic (multiple times Swimmer of the Year), and three years USA Swimming All-Scholastic All American. Four seasons named New England Outstanding Swimmer, and ten times named high school All-American (top 100 swimmers in U.S.). Graduate of University of Virginia, named NCAA All-American. Swimming career highlights included Winter & Summer National Qualifier, Summer Jr. National Qualifier, World Trials Qualifier and 2016 Olympic Trials Qualifier in five events.
MATT ELLIS- Westford Academy Class of 2012- Basketball
Started as varsity point guard freshman year and never looked back. Athletic ability, self-confidence, work ethic, and commitment led him to become one of the most respected players in the Dual County League and beyond. Deadly three-point shooter, terrific ball handler, and one of the league’s toughest perimeter defenders. Four-year starter and two-year captain, member of a Dual County League championship team, and two-time Greater Lowell Holiday Tournament championship team. Recognized as team Most Valuable Player, Dual County League and Lowell Sun All-Star for three straight years. Senior year selected as Boston Herald All-Scholastic.
TERRANCE (T.J.) JANN- Westford Academy Class of 2010- Basketball and Baseball
Standout two-sport athlete, achieving great success on both the basketball court and baseball field during his four years at Westford Academy. T.J. received numerous awards and recognition in both sports, and his dedication and athletic ability were recognized by his teammates, coaches, and opposing players. As a culmination of his success in baseball and basketball, T.J. was selected by the Westford Academy coaches as the 2010 Male Athlete of the Year. Actively scouted by many colleges, T.J. continued his passion for baseball with a Division One scholarship to pitch and play infield at Penn State.
MARK ERICSON- Westford Academy Class of 1986- Football, Basketball, Track & Field
Excelled on football field, basketball court and outdoor track. Recognized as three-sport captain, truly a feat difficult to find today. Elected captain of the football team (1985), basketball team (1985-1986) and outdoor track team (1986). Achieved numerous individual and team awards. In 1985 selected as a Lowell Sun All-Star in football and Wachusett League Most Valuable Player. In 1986 was a Shriners Football All-Star as well as the Wachusett League champion in the triple and long jumps. His athletic performance and leadership skills have earned him the honor of being inducted into the Westford Academy Hall of Fame.
ZACH INGALLS- Westford Academy Class of 2011- Football and Lacrosse
Led Dual County League in scoring his junior football season. That season was primary reason Grey Ghosts were crowned league champions! At conclusion of Westford Academy football career, the two-time captain was a two-year Dual County League All-star, two-year Lowell Sun All-Star, two-year Boston Globe Eastern Mass All-Star, two-year member of the Lowell Sun “The Football Team”, and in 2011 played in the Shriners All-Star Football Classic.
The four-year varsity lacrosse stand-out played midfielder. Served as Lacrosse captain senior season, selected team Most Valuable Player, and voted co-Dual County League Midfielder of the Year, tallying 50 goals and 15 assists.
ALYSSA JANN- Westford Academy Class of 2007- Basketball
A “scoring savant”, Alyssa played four years of varsity girls’ basketball at Westford Academy. She was Westford Academy’s third all-time leading scorer with 1,503 total points, while leading the Dual County League in scoring in 2005, 2006, and 2007. Alyssa served as team captain both junior and senior years and was recognized as Lowell Sun Most Valuable Player and a Boston Globe All-Scholastic selection in 2006 and 2007. Alyssa also earned recognition as a McDonald’s All-American nominee and a Gatorade State Player of the Year finalist. Alyssa was a fierce competitor, an inspirational leader, and role model for her teammates.
BOB CARPENTER- Westford Academy Boys Ice Hockey Coach- 1997 to Current
Coach Carp has served as teacher and coach for 50 years. Awarded Ice Hockey Coach of the Year, inducted into the Massachusetts State Hockey Coaches Hall of Fame and appointed President of Massachusetts High School Hockey Coaches Association. After taking over Westford Academy’s Division Three hockey program in 1997, built successes that leveled the program to Division Two in 2000, before transitioning to Division One in 2004. His teams captured several Merrimack Valley Conference/Dual County League titles and a Division One North title in 2008. Cultivated on ice success, yet more importantly coached players to be resilient, respectful and better men.
BOB CONLEY- Westford Academy Director of Athletics- 1998 to 2010
One of “Founding Fathers” of the Westford Academy Athletic Hall of Fame, Bob Conley served as the full-time Director of Athletics for thirteen years. As the Westford Academy student enrollment grew, Bob ensured that the athletic programs expanded in unison. During his tenure, Bob added four new varsity programs and expanded subvarsity programs for eight existing sports. Bob also oversaw the expansion of additional indoor and outdoor facilities for the increased number of teams. Additionally, he implemented a number of systems to keep the interscholastic program running smoothly, including the creation of both the Westford Academy Athletic Handbook and accompanying website.
DR. JOSEPH LISI- Westford Academy Principal- 1973 to 1999
Joe’s energy and enthusiasm for education were evident with everything he touched in Westford. After a combined five years as both Westford’s Middle School and Westford Academy’s Assistant Principal, served as Westford Academy Principal. During tenure, was instrumental with successful transition of Westford Academy from Wachusett League to the Dual County League. Relished opportunity to enhance Westford Academy, both academically and athletically, as it became an elite school. From leader and spectator to supporter, joined Westford Academy Board of Trustees in 1999. Westford Academy shifted momentum from the early days of Joe’s career, largely due to his spirit and pride for developing complete students.
SAMANTHA HYSLIP- Class of 2104- Soccer and Basketball
Outstanding three-year varsity soccer player was senior captain. Garnered Dual County League All-Star status twice and selected Dual County League Goalie of the Year. Dominating four-year varsity basketball player, two-year basketball captain, and Dual County League All-Star three times. Named Dual County League Girl’s Basketball Most Valuable Player twice. Three-time Lowell Sun All-Star and Player of Year as senior. Three-time Boston Globe All-Scholastic, and Dream Team member once. Boston Herald All-Scholastic player twice, and Dream Team member. ESPN Boston MIAA All-State First Team player. USA Today newspaper Massachusetts State First Team player. Sam scored 1,295 points during interscholastic basketball career.
CAROLINE KAVANAGH- W.A. Class of 1980- Field Hockey, Basketball and Tennis
Talented dynamo excelled in field hockey, basketball and tennis, captaining the field hockey and basketball squads. Earned ten varsity letters in four years at Westford Academy. Identified as the Lowell Sun Field Hockey Player of the Year her senior season. A three-year varsity tennis participant, named to Lowell Sun All-Star team junior and senior seasons. Her tennis doubles team qualified for the Central MA tournament her final two tennis campaigns. Caroline was invited to U.S. Olympic Trials in Colorado Springs to try-out for the A Team in field hockey. She earned a full scholarship to UMass-Amherst to play intercollegiate field hockey.
2003 WESTFORD ACADEMY BASEBALL TEAM
The Grey Ghosts, led by Head Coach Peter Arthur, concluded the season with a 19-5 record. These baseball diamond wizards were 2003 Dual County League champions, 2003 Division II North Sectional champions, 2003 Division II Eastern Massachusetts champions and 2003 Massachusetts Division II finalist. They are the only Westford Academy baseball team to ever play in the state championship contest.
Although Westford lost to Athol in the title game, 1-0 in extra innings, the winning streak they achieved was extremely impressive. Many attending the state finals contest confidently shared that it was the best baseball game, at any level of competition, they had witnessed.

Mission Statement
The Westford Academy Athletic Hall of Fame will recognize significant athletic achievement and contributions to the Westford Academy Athletic program. The Westford Academy Athletic Hall of Fame, herein known as WAAHOF, will promote interscholastic sports in addition to serving as a conduit between Westford Academy and the community of Westford.
