SCOIR Information 2020-2021

    Westford Academy welcomes

The college counseling team at Westford Academy is pleased to announce that we have introduced a new system called SCOIR!  SCOIR enables our guidance office to offer a comprehensive website that you and your child can use to help make decisions about colleges and careers and navigate the selection and application process. Interest inventories, career information, college catalogues and videos are part of the College/Career Center located in the Guidance Office.

SCOIR provides up-to-date information that’s specific to our school. SCOIR allows your child to:

  • Keep track of the process - Build a resume, complete online surveys, and manage timelines and deadlines for making decisions about colleges and careers.
  • Research colleges - Compare GPA, SAT scores, and other statistics to actual historical data from our school for students who have applied and been admitted in the past.
  • Sign up for college visits - Find out which colleges are visiting our school and sign up to attend those sessions.

Once your student creates their account by registering, they can immediately begin using SCOIR to search for and start building a list of colleges of interest.  Students will be required to use SCOIR to request letters of recommendation from faculty and to request the sending of academic transcripts. The counseling office will be using SCOIR to communicate with students during your college planning process and to electronically deliver application materials to colleges.

When your student registers for SCOIR, they will send you an invitation to link to their account.  As a parent, you will be able to:

  • View your student(s) profiles
  • See their college list
  • Conduct your own college searches
  • Suggest colleges for your student to consider.

SCOIR also provides parents with financial tools so that you can get a better sense of the cost of attendance at various colleges during the selection process.

SCOIR also lets us share information with you and your child about up-coming meetings and events, local scholarship opportunities, and other web resources for college and career information. In addition, the site includes a link that your child can use to send us an email message. We encourage our students to download the SCOIR app and enable push notifications.

We are excited to be able to provide SCOIR to our students and families, and we feel confident that you will find it helpful and easy to use. Before you get started, please take a moment to review the links provided.
