Academic Expectation Rubrics

Rubric Implementation Plan

Each department has adopted one of the seven rubrics for which it will be responsible for reporting student achievement. Some rubrics, obviously, are represented twice. How well students achieve relative to the seven rubrics is one measure of how well students are achieving our stated Mission. Click below to see each individual Academic Rubric. During the fourth quarter of the 2008-2009 school year, WA will run a pilot reporting of these academic rubrics following this plan. Teachers within each department, over the course of the school year, will administer an assessment which (in combination with the teacher’s own assessment criteria) will also be measured using that department's "adopted" rubric. Thus each student will have a rubric-score from the majority of the seven school-wide rubrics. This year, we will begin to collect this data as a school-wide "report card" rather than reporting it on an individual basis (i.e. via the progress report). After an analysis of the data collected as well as the process of the rubrics itself, a further and more student-centered implementation plan will be brought forward. In addition the data gathered in support of the Civic and Social Expectations, an entire picture can be seen regarding how well Westford Academy is achieving its Mission Statement.
