The October meeting of the Blanchard book club is next Tuesday October 18, 2-3 pm. We will be discussing the book "Small Spaces" by Katherine Arden. If you need to borrow a copy stop by the Learning Commons during advisory. All students are welcome. It's OK if you didn't make it to the September meeting.
Student Council is selling Boo-grams at all lunches now through 10/19! Surprise your friends with a special Halloween delivery. Buy one Boo-gram for 50 cents or three for a dollar. Boo-grams will be delivered on Friday, 10/29.
Oh my gourd! Fall is here! And we are excited for our first school-wide spirit day! Friday, October 29th will be Halloween Spirit Day at Blanchard! Get spooky! Be creative! Come to school in costume or wear your orange and black! This has become a scary fun tradition for students and staff at Blanchard because everyone makes school-appropriate choices. Some guidelines are listed below.
Halloween Spirit Day Costume Guidelines: Students are still required to wear a mask at all times while in the building. No costume masks, please. Hats will be allowed if part of a costume and not covering your face. No costumes that could be offensive or a risk to safety. No weapons, sharp objects, chains or anything that could be perceived as a weapon, damage property, or cause injury.
A reminder that auditions for Harmonics Honor Choir will be held next Tuesday after school. Students who are interested should sign up to reserve a spot for that day. Please see Mrs. Benschneider with any questions.
The BIPOC or black indigenous people of color affinity group is a group for students who identify as people of color. The remote meeting is on Google meet, Tuesday October 19th starting @2:30pm. To join the class, find the code in your Guidance google classroom. Any questions, please reach out to Mrs Talwalkar, Mrs Gupta, and Mrs Wolber. We look forward to seeing you!
The deadline for ski club signup is coming soon. Any student interested in joining one of Blanchard's most popular clubs needs to have their registration in by Friday, Oct. 29th. If you need more information see Mrs. Casey, Mr. Merrigan or Mrs. Ottesen. Extra permission slips can be found in the main office. If you have your registration you can drop it off in Mrs. Casey's room #93 or in the main office.
Blanchard field hockey won their game against Stony Brook yesterday 1-0. The goal was scored by Lizzy S. with an assist from Ashleigh S. A shout out to Caitlin M. as well for excellent goal tending.
The Blanchard cross country team continued their October winning streak with convincing victories over both Stony Brook Middle School and Marshall Middle School in their tri-meet at Stony Brook yesterday. The girls team opened the meet in dominant fashion, with top finishes from Emily W., Diya S., Emily D., Amrita H., and Nuria L. The boys team then came in and sealed the victory with strong outings from top finishers Andrew S., Aiden G., Jacob B., Charlie S., and Shaan S. Let's keep the streak alive! Congratulations Bulldogs!
