Blanchard Daily Announcements 3/13/2023. **REVISED**

Daily Announcements are shared with students each morning.  Parent announcements are communicated weekly via the Principal's Weekly Newsletter.

This week is Neurodiversity Celebration Week - a week-long event and international campaign to celebrate what neurodiversity is all about. What is neurodiversity? Neurodiversity describes the idea that people experience and interact with the world around them in many different ways; there is no one "right" way of thinking or learning, and differences are not viewed as weaknesses. The goal of this week is to "recognize, nurture and celebrate the many strengths and talents of being neurodiverse." It's about creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for our neurodiverse peers AND challenging stereotypes, myths, and misconceptions about learning differences. Some of these different ways of thinking, learning, interacting, and perceiving the world have been given labels, such as: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, and Tourette’s Syndrome. You may have noticed posters in the display case across from the office that celebrate people who you might recognize who are neurodivergent. Mrs. Brandt has also created a book display in the learning commons to highlight neurodivergent authors and books that celebrate learning differences.

Any 7th and 8th grade Latin students who are taking the National Latin Exam should report to the Learning Commons after announcements.    The Learning Commons will be closed this morning to anyone who is not taking the exam.

To all prospective softball players: There will be a voluntary open gym for anyone interested in getting ready for the upcoming season. It will be held in the main gym at Westford Academy on Tuesday, March 14 from 4:00-6:00. All grades are welcome to attend.  ***REVISED** -   THE OPEN GYM HAS BEEN MOVED TO WEDNESDAY DUE TO THE IMPENDING WEATHER.
