Math Information Night

WPS 6-12 Mathematics Curriculum Coordinator, Ms. McHugh, will host an informational math night for parents of children currently in grades six and seven on Monday, April 1, 2019 from 6:00 to 7:00pm at Stony Brook School. In prior years, parents have found these evenings to be helpful in learning about the math curriculum and placement criteria.

Yearbooks

The 2018-2019 Blanchard yearbook is in publishing and looks amazing! New this year- the yearbooks are hard cover and come with extra autograph inserts and stickers. Our front and back covers were done by Sasha Williams and Tina Lin. Yearbooks will be delivered and distributed to students the last week of school in June. There are just 75 yearbooks left for sale. If your student is still interested in purchasing a yearbook the Lifetouch web site is open until April 26th. ybpay.lifetouch.com

Spring Sports

All students planning to participate in a spring sport must be registered online by Monday, April 1st. Students must also have an updated physical within the last 13 months on file with our nurse. Tryouts for seventh and eighth grade baseball, softball, and girls volleyball will be held Monday, April 1 – Wednesday, April 3rd. The track and field team is open to all students in all grades and does not require tryouts. Information can be found on the Bulldogs Sports Page.

Tennis

All students are welcome to try out for the recreational team on Tuesday, April 2 at the Stony Brook at 2:15pm. The bus at Blanchard parking lot (afterschool bus) is available to transport the players to the Stony Brook. The try outs will last about 1 hour. Parents can pick up students at the SB tennis courts.  Please bring a racquet and athletic shoes. Rain Date: April 11

Congratulations Andrew!

Andrew Cao took 2nd place at the district level of the National History Day Competition with his documentary on the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire.  He will compete at the state level on April 6th. Good Luck to Andrew!

Congratulations, Camille!

Learning Commons Update

See SOME of what has gone on in the Blanchard Learning Commons over the past few months on the blog: Winter 2019 at Blanchard Learning Commons. Read about the Research Process at Blanchard and how it fits into "Guided Inquiry Design"  (a Project Based Learning method highly recommended in the world of school librarians)

FAME Meeting & Fundraiser

Do you support music education in the Westford Public Schools? Has your son or daughter developed essential skills such as discipline, confidence, and a sense of belonging by participating in the nationally recognized music program that Westford offers? If so, FAME, Friends Advancing Music Education, is asking for your support.

FAME is the primary organization awarding scholarships to graduating Westford Academy seniors in recognition of their dedication and commitment to the study of music and music-related community service during their high school tenure. Last year, FAME awarded 13 scholarships to WA music students. In addition, FAME has provided music related mini-grants and other subsidies to music students of all grade levels.

FAME meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 7PM, room 108 at WA.  Please Note: Due to a conflict with the WA Spring Chorus and Orchestra Concert, our next meeting has been rescheduled to April 9. If you support music education and would like to see FAME continue to recognize your music student’s hard work and dedication, join our meetings and learn how you can help. If you can’t attend the meeting but would still like to support FAME, visit the FAME website to make a one-time, tax deductible donation to FAME through our FAME-ous Fundraiser. To donate by mail, print our form here and send it, along with a check, to: FAME, PO Box 627, Westford MA 01886.

Thank you!  Your support will help FAME continue to recognize your music student’s hard work and dedication.
