Blanchard School Update 3/19/20

Dear Blanchard Families,

I hope this finds you and yours well as we all adapt to this continually changing situation. The Blanchard family is here to support you, and we want you to know your children are on our minds every day. Our custodians received a nice “thank-you” in the form of gift cards purchased with donations from the community. Thank you for your kindness and recognition of their efforts in preparation for a safe return to Blanchard.

Our students’ social-emotional wellbeing remains our top priority. Our counselors, Mrs. Voutselas, Mrs. Searl, Mrs. Leone, and Mr. Merrigan will are still available to provide support over the coming weeks. Please visit the Blanchard School Counseling website for information on how to keep your children connected to their counselor and helpful resources for parents and teens coping with stress and changes to routine as a result of the school closure and COVID-19. https://sites.google.com/westfordk12.us/bmsguidance/guidance-home

I know you are also receiving a number of emails from the district and to that end, I will try to keep Blanchard updates timely and succinct. The district has created a site to house all communication pertaining to COVID-19. Please be sure to check https://www.westfordk12.us/district/news/covid-19-coronavirus regularly for updates.

WPS School Lunches

In order to support our Westford students in need, Westford Public Schools will be providing bag lunches to WPS students starting on Thursday, March 19, 2020 from 10am-12pm. Lunches can be picked up at Westford Academy. Please be advised that the only food allergy that can be accommodated is gluten-free. Please enter Westford Academy by the granite blocks (when looking at the building, the blocks are to the right side). Park in the student lot. There will be a sign identifying the Grab and Go location.

Remote Learning Resources

Our curriculum coordinators have been working with staff to prepare learning resources that will soon be available for all students. Each one of our classroom teachers is contributing to this effort so that students will have a variety of choices to maintain learning while home. The district Office of Curriculum and Instruction is overseeing this district-wide initiative and will be in communication with families as soon as it is ready to launch.

Report Cards

The second trimester report card will be released via iParent on Friday, April 3 at approximately 2:00 PM. IEP Progress Notes will be sent home to families via email. If you are unable to access the parent portal, simply please an email to iparent@westfordk12.us

Staffing Update

Welcome to our new cafeteria Manager, Katie Ringland. Katie has been a member of the Blanchard team for three years and has worked in WPS Food Services for six years. Please feel free to contact her directly at kringland@westfordk12.us as needed.

Thank you for your continued support. Please let us know if we can support your family in any way.
