3.21...update! SB 3-20-21

We lead this week’s update with the WPS Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee’s Vision Statement: In the Westford Public Schools, we strive to develop an inclusive and equitable school community where every individual is welcomed, respected, valued, and supported. We strive to reflect and value the faces, voices, and experiences of our diverse community in our curriculum, school activities, and celebrations. We recognize that all members of our community bear responsibility for this important work.

In light of the rising anti-Asian violence and racism in our country, we stand in solidarity with our Asian community.

Sorry for the delay in this week’s update.  For those of you looking forward to it for your Friday night entertainment...I am sorry on many levels :-)  Friday was a bit of a whirlwind so this update has turned into a Saturday morning kind of read.

Sunday is World Down Syndrome Day 3.21, we celebrated it today with our Theme of mismatched socks.  This tradition was started to build awareness and advocate for the rights, inclusion and well being of individuals with Down Syndrome. The date and the socks are specifically connected to the fact that it is the 3rd copy of the 21st chromosome that identifies Down Syndrome.  Help us continue this awareness by spreading the word to join the Global Community of support on Sunday, March 21.  We danced our way to dismissal today listening to Queen’s Don't’ Stop Me Now which was the official theme of WDSD in 2019.

An important reminder from our Yearbook Club...If your child did not have their school portrait taken this year and you would like to send in a photo from home, please submit the photo directly to TreeRing.com NO LATER THAN April 1st. Instructions for UPLOADING A PORTRAIT OF YOUR CHILD: https://help.treering.com/hc/en-us/articles/360057155012-Uploading-a-Portrait-Photo-of-Your-Child

For those of you with younger members in the family or neighbors who could benefit from this information...Westford Integrated Preschool is now accepting applications for the 2021-22 school year.  Information can be found on the District's website, along with a link to the application form.  Applications are being accepted until April 8 at 4pm.

Special thanks to our phenomenal SBPTO!  They once again out did themselves by providing wonderful treats for the entire staff this past Wednesday.  Additionally, they have taken on the task of helping us to raise funds to install water bottle filling stations on each of our floors so that all of our students and staff can easily access one at all times throughout the day.  Please read their most recent update:

Water Filling Station Fundraiser

Stony Brook PTO is collecting funds to purchase three water bottle filling stations at the school, one for each floor.  Please help us reach our goal of $4500 by making a donation today.

To help prevent the spread of COVID all regular water fountains have been closed but having these water filling stations will allow students and staff to keep their bottles filled during the day.

Donations are needed by April 2nd and any funds raised in excess of the goal will be diverted to the regular PTO fund for teacher appreciation and our 21-22 school year initiatives.

Please visit https://sites.google.com/view/stonybrookpto/home to find the PayPal link or send cash or check, made out to WEPTO – Stony Brook, into the school labeled: “PTO-water station fundraiser”.

Thank you for your support!

Have a wonderful Spring weekend!

Chris
