Checking In!

A few updates!

Good afternoon,

I hope all of you are well and you enjoyed the holiday weekend. It sure was different!  I really miss the large fun-filled gatherings with family and friends. We will get there!  This too shall pass!

Please know that Superintendent Bill Olsen has established several teams to work together for the reopening of schools this fall.  The teams are:  School Operations, Teaching and Learning, Social and Emotional Learning, Facilities, and School Hygiene. We are all working extremely hard to come up with the best plan for the Westford Public Schools.  The state has provided us with some guidelines and we are doing our best to come up with a solid plan in order to keep everyone safe and to educate our students. Superintendent Olsen posted a 15-minute video on the district's website.  Please take some time to review the video. It does a great job reviewing the steps we are following and the challenges that we face.

Graduation is still on for Friday, August 7, 2020 at 10:00 AM (Time may need to be adjusted based on weather, so please be flexible).  I reviewed our plan for graduation with Jeff Stephens from the Westford Board of Health and he liked the plan.

Some specifics:

1) Immediate family only (Parents/Guardians, graduate, siblings) (The guidelines are from the state and they are prescribed.). Westford CAT will be live streaming for extended family members.

2) Only graduates will be allowed on the field.  Each student will have an assigned seat- 6 feet part.

3) Parents/Guardians/Siblings can social distance sitting in the stands or around the track, the D areas of the track, or in any of the grassy areas.

4) Parents/Guardians/Siblings will be asked to enter and exit through the parking lot known as the "senior parking lot".  Staff will be on site to direct you.

5) Graduates will enter 2 x 2 6 feet apart by the WA Booster Concession stand- Note: graduates will also EXIT through the same gate.  Once the commencement is over, graduates can then find family members outside of the graduation ceremony.

6) Mask are mandatory for everyone, unless the person has a health condition.

More details regarding graduation to follow as we get closer.

In addition, Mr. Twomey and your class advisors will keep you updated regarding the potential for a Prom like event at Kimball's once we hear more information from the state.

More information will also be forthcoming regarding the event proposal for Last Night.  So stay tuned!

Stay healthy, Stay Safe and keep up the social distancing!  Our state is doing great!  Let's beat this together!

Respectfully, Jim Antonelli
