COVID-19 Update

Follow-up Information

Good afternoon.

I realize the most recent letter with 17 positive cases at Westford Academy has many concerned.  We knew there would be an uptick following the vacation so we made changes on Monday to work towards keeping everyone safe. The good news is that many students and faculty are vaccinated and many have received their booster vaccine.

Some of the changes:

1) All faculty and staff were tested yesterday.  (Substitute teachers as well)

2) We handed out N-95 masks to the faculty.

3) We reduced the number of students allowed at each cafe table from six back to four per table.

4) We added a new space (Flag Lobby) for students to eat their lunch.  Again, four to a table.

5) An announcement was made regarding the proper use of the mask. (Cover mouth and nose)

6) Students were reminded to socially distance when moving from class to class.

7) Sanitizing stations are available throughout the school with sanitizing towels on all table where students eat lunch.

8) We have numbered the student section in our gymnasium for our home basketball games in order to socially distance our students.

We may continue to see the numbers increase over the next week to ten days.  However, I feel strongly that we will get beyond this recent uptick.  Hang in there! We will get through this!!!  If you choose not to send your student to school. please have them email their respective teachers in order to stay up on their coursework.

Respectfully, Jim Antonelli
