Good afternoon,
March is certainly coming in like a lion, and I hope it goes out like a lamb! It looks like Mother Nature is going to wallop some of us this weekend. I hope the ski areas get the brunt of the snowfall so that our skiers and snowboarders can fill the mountainsides! Lots of fun for all and good for the economy! Just be careful and have fun!
Today at 2:00 PM our portal will close and we will begin the process of scheduling classes for the school year 2023-2024! Thank you for your efforts to work with your student to meet the specific deadlines connected to our scheduling timeline. This is the second time we will be scheduling using the new PowerSchool Student Management System, and we are hoping for another positive outcome. The process takes a lot of time and our hope is that before students leave for the summer recess that they will have a copy of their schedule in their hand!
Next week there is an early release day on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 for the purposes of professional development and we will be collecting grades for the 3rd quarter progress reports on Thursday, March 9, 2023. I will alert you when the portal will be open in order for you to review your student’s 3rd quarter progress report grades.
Finally, MCAS is right around the corner for students in grade 10. MCAS English will take place on March 28 and 29. I will be sending a letter to all of you very soon to outline all of the upcoming MCAS assessments. That is it for today. Please enjoy the WA Counseling Department Newsletter!

Reminder To All Graduating Seniors
The WA Trustee and Community Scholarship applications opened on February 16th. The FIRM deadline for students to submit applications is Monday, March 13, 2023 at 2:00 PM - NO exceptions or extensions. LAST NIGHT 2023
WA Last Night 2023 is the all-night, substance-free celebration for our Westford Academy graduating seniors, which will be held on Friday, June 2nd starting at 10:00 PM. With almost 100% participation, Last Night is a highlight for WA graduates. It takes over 300 volunteers and many, many generous donors to make this evening a success.
