Good afternoon,
As we approach the mask mandate ending in the schools, I wanted to share the following message that I sent to all WA students this morning. Wearing a mask is a personal preference for students, faculty, and staff.
A message sent to students today- (Class of 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 accounts)
MASKS: Monday- mandate is lifted! No need to wear a mask at school, and for those of you that take the bus, you know that mandate was lifted this past Monday (2/28).
• Please be respectful of everyone
• Some students (your peers) will continue to wear masks, that is their prerogative
• You don’t know if there is a family issue, someone may have immunodeficiency at home, or your peer may live with their grandparents, other relatives, etc.
• If you don’t feel good, please stay home
• There is a variety of reasons why students may continue to wear a mask
• Same goes for teachers, some teachers will continue to wear masks. Please be respectful, the same circumstances could exist for a faculty member at W.A.

WA Trustee & Community Scholarship Applications
Reminder for all WA graduating Seniors: The WA Trustee & Community Scholarship applications are due Monday, March 14 at 2:00 PM - NO exceptions or extensions. Only applications with a submitted timestamp from February 17 - March 14 will be considered. Ghostwriter: Graduation 2022
Dear Senior Parents/Guardians: The end of your child’s high school career is near! We know you have many different ways to commemorate the occasion, but we’d like to offer another possibility. The staff of the student newspaper, The WA Ghostwriter, invites you to purchase a graduation shout-out for your son or daughter. We publish a printed June edition of the newspaper that is distributed at graduation. Since it features a list of the graduates’ college destinations, it tends to be a hot commodity!
We are selling four different shout-out spaces this year. Deadline for submitting all materials and payment: April 1, 2022 The Ghostwriter staff will design your shout-out at no additional cost! Photos that work well: senior portraits (that you have a release for), baby pictures, candids, close up and clear photos. Photos that do not work well: Iphone photos, blurry or unfocused photos.
Message example: “We are so proud of you Sam! We know you will do well in college and succeed at UConn! We hope you always stay true to yourself and follow your dreams! Love, Mom and Dad”

Attention Parents of Ninth Graders - Tickets Available - Aaron Sorkins’ To Kill a Mockingbird
Through the generous support of anonymous donors, English teacher Emily Coates has been able to secure tickets to take students to see Aaron Sorkins’ To Kill a Mockingbird on Saturday, April 9 at 2pm. This Broadway play is being performed at The Boston Opera House. We will be leaving Westford Academy at 12pm on Saturday, April 9, 2022 and returning around 6PM. We will be traveling by bus to and from the play. There are 20 tickets left. Cost per student: $20. Please pay in cash or in a check made payable to Westford Academy. Scholarships available. Please email Emily Coates at ecoates@westfordk12.us for a permission slip and to secure a ticket.
