Spring weather has finally arrived!

Good afternoon,

We are getting closer!   Graduation 2022!

It was brought to my attention by a school council member that some parents/guardians are getting anxious.  Here is some preliminary information regarding graduation.  I hope this helps!

Graduation rehearsal (mandatory for all graduates) will take place on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. Seniors should report to the Main Gym to line up and to hear about the commencement program.  Following rehearsal there will be a Senior BBQ.

On June 3rd, graduation day, graduates will need to arrive  at W.A. by 4:00 p.m. !  We ask that seniors be dropped off or carpool with a fellow graduate. Seniors will meet in the Main Gym (this will be reviewed at the rehearsal).  We will make every effort to begin the ceremony at 5:30 p.m. sharp.   You are welcome to bring an umbrella to protect from the sun and cold water.

See some general guidelines and procedures below:

Guidelines and Procedures:

• Parking will be available on campus, on the fields behind the school, at the Robinson School and the Crisafulli School.  You may also park on the side of the street closest to W.A. There will also be ample handicapped parking in the lot closest to the stadium.  This will be clearly marked.

• Please be sure to enter through one of the three gates.  No tickets are required.

• Graduation programs will be available at all three gates.

• Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the stadium.

• Parents/Guardians and immediate family members please remain behind the ropes in the designated seating areas.

•At the close of the ceremony, I am asking that all parents/guardians and immediate family members exit through the entrance that you came into earlier.

•There will be lots of seating on the field and in the bleachers.  You are also welcome to bring in your own chairs. There will be many open areas to set up some chairs.  That said, please do not place your chairs inside the roped off areas.

•Finally, please help our maintenance and custodial staff with clean up.  Take any trash or recycling and dispose of it.

• Our new amenities building will be open to all guests. (Restroom facility)

• Please be patient and kind to our Westford Police Department detail officers and our school maintenance staff.  They will be on site to assist with traffic and parking.

•Thank you very much for your cooperation!

• Please feel free to email me with any specific questions.  I am happy to help!

Volunteer Host Families Needed for Foreign Exchange Students

Are you interested in welcoming an international exchange student into your home for the 2022-2023 academic year? We are currently seeking volunteer host families to host a foreign exchange student for one full academic year, or one academic semester. This is a big commitment. But the experience can and has been life-changing for both exchange students and host families. You would: provide a room for the exchange student to sleep in,

provide three meals a day, arrange transportation to and from school, (we waive the bus fee!) act as a sort of personal cultural ambassador, and show the exchange student how wonderful, crazy, and warm and welcoming your family is!  Sound like fun?? It is. We are very proud to say that Westford Academy has hosted over 200 international students from 40 countries around the world since 1976. We are successful because of the generous support of our volunteer host families…..Do you want to become one? :-)

For more information or to begin the application process to host in 2022-2023, please contact Tim Welch, WA International Exchange Coordinator, at twelch@westfordk12.us.
