GO PATRIOTS!

Good afternoon,

Week # 2 is in the books.  WA Athletics are in full swing, including WA Crew which begins tomorrow.  (WA Crew will welcome any new student-athletes; experienced or novice- See Our Athletic Director, Mr. Bunyon in the Main Office if interested.) There are many co-curricular activities for students to join at W.A.  For a $100 fee students may participate in as many activities as they wish.  Please have your student see Dean Ms. Betsy Murphy if they have questions.  Athletics and Co-Curricular activities are a great way to meet new friends, and to make some high school memories.  Good for the resume as well.  My recommendation to students is to find an activity that you are interested in and STICK WITH IT! Or try something new! Become a leader of that activity.  Colleges and Universities like to see a student stay with something over the four years and not add titles to the resume.  Finding the balance of academics, co-curriculars, and social time is highly recommended.

Best of luck to all of our athletic teams with weekend and this season!

It is mandatory for all interested members, and parents are strongly urged to attend.  DECA Advisors will be available to answer all parent and student questions. For the parents’ convenience, DECA Officers will be collecting any cash or checks for WA’s Activity Fee ($100 - check made out to “WPS Clubs”) and the DECA Fee ($100, which includes membership and the first field trip held in January - check made out to “WA DECA”). Any questions?  Please contact DECA Advisor, John Rogers: jrogers@westfordk12.us

Seal of Biliteracy

To celebrate our students who are literate in another language (a spoken World Language, American Sign Language, Latin, etc) as well as English, Westford Public Schools is pleased to announce our participation in the Seal of Biliteracy, a Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education program.  The Seal of Biliteracy is awarded to high school seniors who have demonstrated a high level of literacy and have met the criteria outlined in the official state program.  However, language learning is a lifelong process and we wanted to inform all of our students and families of this exciting future opportunity; our elementary students who may already speak another language at home, our middle school students who may be learning another language for the first time, as well as our high school students who may be picking up a new language or expanding their knowledge of a language they already know.  To learn more:https://www.westfordk12.us/wa/friday-email/files/seal-biliteracy
