Update for the Class of 2020

Our heart pours out to all of you!

April 22, 2020

Dear Class of 2020,

As many of you have already figured out by now it is with heavy hearts that we have to officially cancel the Senior Trip to Disney and the Prom at Park Plaza.  Over the past five weeks we have explored every option and possibility for these events.  Yet with the Governor's announcement yesterday and with the uncertain times ahead, rescheduling these two events as planned is not possible for numerous reasons. The most important reason being your health and safety.  However, we will continue to plan for some sort of Class of 2020 celebratory event later in the summer at a local location if conditions allow.

With the news from the Governor we continue to work with your Class Advisors and Class Officers regarding the end of the year events including graduation. While we know the end of the year will be different for everyone, please know that we will make every effort to make it a memorable experience for the Class of 2020 and your families.  On Friday of this week, we will hold a virtual meeting with the advisors and officers in order to brainstorm ideas for the end of this school year.  Please feel free to share your ideas with them or with us at any time.  This is unprecedented and we need to “think outside the box” during this most difficult time. No idea is a bad idea!

Also, it was announced last evening at the WPS School Committee Meeting that the last day of Distance Learning for seniors will be May 15th.

We will be issuing refunds for the senior trip within the next two weeks. We will issue checks to families based on our financial records within the next 15-30 days.  We will do our best to recover as much of the total amount of your trip as possible from Disney and JetBlue and you may see another check later this year.

We know many of you have questions and there will be more information to follow about how to sign out, yearbooks, return items, etc.

There are no words to express how awful we feel for the Class of 2020.  The amount of character,  growth, kindness, and personality this class has exhibited over the past four years has been and will continue to be amazing.  Please hang in there and reach out to us or any staff member if you need anything.  We will continue to be here for all of you.

Class of 2020 Strong.
