In the Westford Public Schools, educational technology use is focused on student achievement of the curriculum standards in each of the academic areas. The development of critical technical competencies, as defined in the Massachusetts technology standards and related Westford benchmarks, takes place within the context of this core curriculum work.

Educational technology enables teachers to provide depth to the subjects and courses they teach by providing students with experiences in which they are not only required to acquire information, but to think critically and solve problems while engaging in the real world content of the curriculum. These experiences are delivered through the consultative model in which Instructional Technology Specialists and subject teachers corroboratively plan, teach, and assess projects that arise from significant curriculum content.

Teachers are supported in the application of technology to learning through an ongoing professional development program and the ready availability of technical and pedagogical support specialists.
