MASSACHUSETTS 2012-2013 PARENT INVOLVEMENT SURVEY
Each year the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (MADESE) surveys parents to determine how well your childís school is partnering with you and promoting your involvement in your childís education.  All states must collect this data as part of their State Performance Plans required under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

Make your voice heard!
The web-based survey will be open from January 28, 2013 to March 29, 2013.  You can complete the Survey online at http://maparent1.com.

About Responsive Classroom
The Responsive Classroom approach is a widely used, research-backed approach to elementary education that increases academic achievement, decreases problem behaviors, improves social skills, and leads to more high-quality instruction. Many elementary school teachers in Westford have participated in the Responsive Classroom training and have begun implementing the approach within their classrooms.
Visit Responsive Classroom to learn more about the Responsive Classroom approach.
Field Trip Cancellation
Field trips are funded via parent donations and provide valuable educational benefits to students.  If there is a significant influenza outbreak in our school system, it may be necessary to cancel a field trip at the last minute.  Many organizations require prepayment for a field trip and do not offer refunds.  Therefore, in the event of a cancellation, a refund to parents may not be possible.  If a cancellation occurs and an organization offers a refund, we will make every effort to reschedule the trip or plan another field trip of equal educational value.
curriculum2.jpgCommon Core State Standards?
When we refer to the Common Core State Standards, we are using shorthand for the revised Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks in English Language Arts and Mathematics, which incorporate these standards.

Massachusetts is one of more than 40 states which have adopted the Common Core State Standards into their curriculum frameworks in English Language Arts and Mathematics.
