Health Law Advocates:  Lawyers Fighting for Health Care Justice

Health Law Advocates (HLA) is a 501(c)(3) public interest law firm whose mission is to provide pro bono legal representation to residents in low-income situations experiencing difficulty accessing or paying for needed medical services. HLA is committed to ensuring universal access to quality health care in Massachusetts, particularly for those who are most at risk due to such factors as race, gender, disability, age, or geographic location. With its partner organization, Health Care For All, HLA combines legal expertise with grassroots organizing and policy reform to advance the statewide movement for universal health care access.

Health Law Advocates:  Lawyers Fighting for Health Care Justice : Immigrant Health Initiatives

HLA's Immigrant Health Care Access Initiative addresses the many substantial health care barriers facing immigrants with low income. Throughout Massachusetts, the uninsurance rate among immigrants is improving with the help of our work and others’, but remains much higher than for U.S. citizens. Also, repressive immigration enforcement policies prevent immigrants from seeking care.

Children's Behavioral Health Initiative (CBHI)

CBHI partners with child and family serving state agencies, providers, and payers to ensure that services meet the individual needs of the child and family, are easy for families to find and access, and make families feel welcomed and respected.

Family Resource Centers

Can you imagine a place in your neighborhood where people of all ages, incomes, and abilities are welcome to develop helpful and caring connections with each other? A place where skilled and thoughtful professionals help parents, children, and families find emotional support and practical assistance to succeed in life? A place that offers sensible solutions to families seeking health, safety, educational, and employment services? That place is part of the Massachusetts Family Resource Centers (FRCs) network and is already in your own neighborhood. Supported by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services and the Department of Children and Families, a Family Resource Center is located in each of the 14 Massachusetts counties.
